This video shows one scene from script page 38, with the actor’s final ad-libbed dialogue (click here to see the original screenplay page).

The movie theater scene was our first day of shooting, and a relatively controlled situation.  Joe and Lynn had rehearsed their characters and back stories for a month before shooting, and their improv had really fleshed out the scene.

The back yard scene was shot quite late in the schedule, and involved the whole “Montero Family”.  Only half of the “scripted” scene was used here, and the second half appears at a later moment in the film.
